Mortlake is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 10 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. Mortlake has a population of 1,063 people, according to the 2016 Census, and covers an area of 0.9 square kilometres.
Mortlake was originally known as Bottle Point, and was named after its namesake Mortlake, by the banks of the Thames in London. The suburb has a rich history of industrial development, as it was the site of the Australian Gas Light Company (AGL) gas works, which operated from 1883 to 1990. The gas works produced coal gas for lighting, heating and cooking in Sydney, and employed many workers who lived in the nearby cottages. The gas works also had a wharf where colliers from Newcastle brought coal to fuel the gas production. The gas works closed in 1990 and the land was redeveloped into the Breakfast Point residential development, which features luxury apartments, a country club and a marina.
Mortlake is also notable for its maritime heritage, as it was the home of the Green Point Naval Boatyard, which assembled Fairmile B motor launches during World War II. These launches were used for coastal patrol and anti-submarine warfare by the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Navy. Mortlake also has a ferry service, known as the Putney Punt or the Mortlake Ferry, which is the last surviving punt service in Sydney. The ferry connects Mortlake to Putney on the northern bank of the Parramatta River, and operates daily from 6:45 am to 9:30 pm.
Mortlake has a mix of residential and commercial properties, with some heritage-listed buildings such as the former AGL administration building, the former AGL gatehouse and the former AGL retort house. The suburb has a small shopping village on Tennyson Road, which offers cafes, restaurants, a bakery, a pharmacy and a supermarket. Mortlake also has several parks and reserves, such as Wangal Reserve, which has a playground, a picnic area and a boat ramp; Hilly Street Reserve, which has a basketball court and a skate park; and Bennelong Park, which has a cycle path and a fishing spot.
Mortlake is surrounded by several suburbs in the Inner West and Northern Suburbs regions of Sydney. These include:
– Concord: A suburb that borders Mortlake to the south-west, and is known for its Federation-style houses, its golf courses and its hospital.
– Cabarita: A suburb that borders Mortlake to the west, and is known for its waterfront parkland, its swimming pool and its marina.
– Breakfast Point: A suburb that borders Mortlake to the north-west, and is part of the former AGL gas works site.
– Rhodes: A suburb that borders Mortlake to the north-east, and is known for its high-rise apartments, its shopping centre and its railway station.

A blocked sewer drain is a serious problem that requires emergency plumbing. It occurs when something obstructs the flow of wastewater in the sewer pipes in the Shower, Toilet, Basins, Kitchen sink, Floor waste, External sewer drains, causing it to back up and overflow.
Blocked sewer drains can be caused by various factors, such as tree roots, grease, sanitary products, or broken pipes. If left untreated, a blocked sewer drain can result in health hazards, property damage, and environmental pollution.
A blocked stormwater drain is a serious problem that requires emergency plumbing. Stormwater drains are designed to collect and divert rainwater from roofs, gutters and down pipes, driveways and other surfaces. When these drains get clogged with leaves, dirt, debris, or roots, they can cause flooding, damage, and health hazards.
Blocked stormwater drains can also affect the pipes, strip drains, storm water pits, and other components of the drainage system. Therefore, it is important to clear any blockages as soon as possible and prevent them from recurring.
A CCTV camera drain inspection is a method of inspecting drainage systems using a camera mounted on a flexible cable. This technique can help detect and diagnose various problems such as blocked, clogged, or damaged pipes, as well as identify the best solutions for emergency plumbing.
A CCTV camera drain inspection can also be useful for inspections before renovations, as it can reveal the condition and layout of the existing pipes and avoid any surprises or complications during the renovation process. A CCTV camera drain inspection can help detect major blockages that may pose a risk of flooding, sewage backup, or structural damage to the property.
A blockage location inspection is a service that emergency plumbing professionals offer to locate and diagnose the cause of a blocked or clogged drain.
Using specialized equipment, such as cameras and sensors, they can detect the exact location and nature of the blockage, whether it is due to tree roots, foreign objects, misalignment, breakages, pipe collapse, or soil settlement. This helps them to determine the best course of action to clear the blockage and restore the normal flow of water.
